November -  2004 Waggoner sisters focusing on Deery Street

Our neighborhood is very lucky to have attracted the attention of Mary & Kathryn Waggoner. The sisters have just begun their second historic renovation on Deery Street and their efforts are not going unnoticed. The Knoxville-Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission has just added their story to the historic preservation page of their web site. To learn more, please click here.

November -  2004 Four Fourth & Gill homes win Historic Preservation Awards!

Four homes within our neighborhood were awarded 2004 Historic Preservation Awards by KnoxHeritage in the residential restoration category. For more on this

October - 2004  -  Fourth & Gill exhibits at KnoxHeritage Old House Fair

October  -  2004  Keep Knoxville Beautiful Awards Historic Preservation Award to Fourth & Gill home.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful has just named 1302 Luttrell Street, The Camp-DeRobertis Home, as the winner of a 2004 "Orchid" award for beautfication in the Historic Preservation category.

October  -  2004 - Fourth & Gill Neighbor on the Cutting Edge of Potential New Energy Source.

Luttrell Street neighbor Barry Bruce is on the cutting edge of science in attempting to harness solar energy via plants. He is an integral part of multi-disciplinary team attempting to harness the power of photosynthesis to produce electricity. August  -  2004  - News Sentinel publishes Luttrell Street Neighbor's article regarding Knoxville's main library.

The Knoxville News Sentinel has published an article by neighbor Jim Ullrich regarding our main library.

August  -  2004  - Fourth & Gill Board announces new members and officers.

John Jacobs, James Newburn and Greg Marlow are the newest members of the the Fourth & Gill neighborhood's board of directors. The the board's August meeting, new officers were elected. Barbara Simpson, CPA was re-elected as Treasurer, and the following new officers were elected: Jonathan Wimmer as President, Bill Pittman as Vice-President and Joan Eschman as Secretary.

July  -  2004   -  Fourth & Gill neighbor featured in News Sentinel

The Knoxville News-Sentinel has just published an article about Fourth & Gill neighbor Bobby Hancock and his his work studying mosquitoes.

June - 2004  -  Neighborhood Center Task Force Formed

A task force has been formed to help determine the future of the Fourth & Gill neighborhood center and all residents are encouraged to share their thoughts; for more information, please click here.

May 9th, 2004  -  Brownlow School Lofts Update

Developer David Dewhirst is "pre-selling" lofts at the old Brownlow School
located at the corner of East Glenwood and Luttrell Street. To move the project forward, David must "pre-sell" ~13 units; thus far, 7 units have been sold so please spread the word to family, friends and co-workers...Brownlow is great option for those seeking the loft lifestyle close to downtown and in a truly wonderful space. March 18, 2004 - Neighborhood Yard Sale

Get ready for some spring cleaning!  The third annual 4th & Gill Neighborhood Yard Sale will be on Saturday,April 24th, from 8am until 3pm. 

Here is how it works: You get all of your things together for a yard sale and be ready to sell your stuff and keep your earnings.  Each sale is individual
and occurs on your own front lawn.  We'll do the group's advertising and develop a map of the neighborhood indicating where each of the sales are
taking place. 

All you have to do is call Ellen Lee at 673-5099 by
Friday, April 16th, if you're interested in
participating.
